or Apple finally figures things out and releases a BETTER laptop.
I used this to add 200 GB of more space, easily and inexpensively.Īnd I plan to keep using her until she can no longer perform her duties. And I love this microSD sled that fits perfectly, and lays flush with the side of the MBP. I love not always having to carry adapters and dongles. I am not a fan of the newer MacBook Pros (especially the butterfly keyboard and the lack of ports other than USB-C) so I have been using and appreciating this baby every single day. (And I'm an early adopter and tinkerer, so that's no small feat.) I also brought it in for its last AppleCare visit late last year and not only did the Genius Bar replace the battery with a new one, but they replaced the chassis so the whole thing looks and feels brand new. I've used it for more than three years so far and she's performed admirably. I actually got it in 2015, and I was super lucky, it was a rare find in Apple's "Refurbished and Clearance" section at the time so it was $500 or so less than retail IIRC. I'll be hanging onto it for a while yet -) Which is great, because I love this machine. Basically it looks and feels brand new again. That included having to replace the top half of the casing (because the battery is glued to the underside), the trackpad and a new 2015 keyboard.

It's supposed to be healthier for it and helps to prevent swelling in the long run.įortunately for me, I was still under Apple Care, so the battery was replaced free of charge. So maybe plan your usage so that occasionally you let your batter run down a fair ways, then recharge. Which makes sense, because my MBP just sits on my desk 90% of the time and always plugged into the charger. After almost three years, my battery was starting to swell and it was interfering with the trackpad sensitivity.Īpparently the cause of the swelling was from "over" charging.
When I looked closely I could see the casing was bulging underneath and slightly on top around the trackpad. I recently started having this problem with my 2015 MBP.
